Macomb County, Michigan Republican Party Chairman James Carabelli admitted his party plans to use a list of foreclosed homes to stop people from voting in this year’s November election. Using lists of foreclosed homes, along with vote caging, is part of the Michigan Republican Party’s strategy to challenge some voters on Election Day.

Mr. Carabelli said, “We will have a list of foreclosed homes and will make sure people aren’t voting from those addresses.”

Although Mr. Carabelli has since backed off on the foreclosure list threat, Franklin County Republican Party Chairman Douglas J. Preisse in nearby Ohio has not ruled out using “foreclosure related address issues”  to challenge would-be voters.

The Obama campaign has since filed a lawsuit questioning the legality of the practice.
